Best Brands is the most important German brand ranking and an annual awards ceremony. The main difference between Best Brands and many other brand rankings throughout the world is that this one is purely based on quantitative and qualitative market research provided by GfK, one of the world’s leading market research companies.

Spark managed to secure actor and musician Kiefer Sutherland to perform a special acoustic set at the 2019 Best Brands award show in Munich.

Kiefer Sutherland premiered some new songs for his upcoming album ‘Reckless & Me’ and charmed the audience by telling stories about the songs he played. He finished off his set with a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Knocking On Heavens Door’. He told the audience that the song will forever remind him of the time when his father Donald Sutherland only had one 8-track tape in his 1959 Ferrari and that was of the original version sung by Bob Dylan. He sometimes picked Kiefer and his sister up from school and they listened to the song a lot and therefore carries very special memories for him.

Kiefer Sutherland also did number of press and TV interviews on the day of the event. He was also involved in a VIP meet and greet and the red carpet.

Spark was in charge of the negotiations and agreement with Kiefer Sutherland for his performance but also handled all logistics in regards to the interviews and his performance on the day.

The Best Brands Gala takes place every year in February in the ballroom of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. Over 600 guests from the business and retail worlds and the media attend the event, which has become a firm fixture in the calendar as the most relevant German marketing award.

In a festive award show, the results of the complex study of GfK were announced, honouring not only the top 10 winners but also the respective “Best Brands” of the individual categories. Awarded in 2019 were the “Best German Corporate Brand International”, the “Best Product Brand”, the “Best Growth Brand” and in the special category the “Best Digital Life Brand”.

The 16th ceremony on 20 Feburary 2019 was opened by the former President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso.
